Goodbye Again, Her Portable Hard Drive
Another careless moment, and the portable hard drive has left me again. Another year of savings, 40GB of data all gone with it. Painful again. Heartbreaking again. Full of regret again. But what’s lost is lost — never to be recovered. Only to start over. Besides, What’s lost is the past; what remains is the沉淀 (accumulation). Code I wrote before is gone — but the patterns, architecture, ideas, methods remain forever in my mind; Photos I took before are gone — but I still live among the people in those photos; Resumes I wrote before are gone — but my life experience continues to enrich; Documents I downloaded before are gone — but the Internet keeps expanding… Let what’s lost stay lost. Everything is just beginning again…
Today my portable hard drive broke down again for some reason. So I reused something I wrote before and turned it into a blog post — software reuse really is a wonderful thing.
