Lately I've Been Troubled

Lately I’ve been troubled,

So many things await,

My blog’s become desolate,

And I’m run off my feet.

Satellites in the sky need Ada programming, C++ won’t do.

Ada’s not user-friendly, so I write Eclipse plugins for it.

Can’t talk about classified info, or国家安全局 will come after me.

Microsoft released CE6, I’m porting some BSP to it.

Running into lots of trouble —

First, the architecture changed a lot; second, the old BSP was poorly written.

Two Microsoft research projects are pretty pointless,

Simple, boring, and troublesome.

But since they paid, I’ve got to deliver.

Passed my thesis defense as expected,

Knew that of 5 defense committee members, 4 were there for the meal,

And realized how messed up Chinese academia is.

Promised to maintain the Windows Embedded.com.cn website,

But can’t find time to look at the ASP code.

The server’s in America — why won’t that海底光缆 just break?

Used to do freelance work for some pocket money,

Ended up becoming some company’s technical backbone.

Now maintenance, version upgrades — all on me.

Microsoft’s CE6 training is basically reheated leftovers.

Huawei and UT斯达康 all come to hear me ramble.

After teaching so much, it really feels like a chicken rib.

Look at my age, almost 30.

Parents and elders are urging me to get married.

The classic post-80s problem: “No house, what about love?”
