He Shiquan's First Time Away from Mom and Dad
Little He Shiquan is 13 months old. Before this, he’d never been away from both parents at the same time. His mom always tucked him in at night, and he was a good boy.
Last week, the inevitable crisis struck. Mom was dispatched to South Korea for a month, working on making car turns safer for humanity. Dad also had to go to Beijing for a conference. Poor little Shiquan was left at home with Grandma and Nanny, becoming the only “man” in the house. To make matters worse, the little guy had a persistent cough and cold. Mom and Dad’s biggest worry was how he’d sleep without them around.
Every night we called home. Turns out the little chubby boy slept perfectly fine, drinking his milk and dozing off obediently, sleeping until 9am. Tonight my flight was delayed, and I didn’t get home until 9:30. Little Comrade Shiquan was in his blankets drinking milk. When he saw Dad come home, he squealed with delight, stretching out both little arms for Daddy to hold him. Since he was already undressed and ready for bed, I had to wrap him in a blanket and hold him for half an hour. The little chubby boy was giggling with joy.
